Supporting the Fund

Helping Students Pay for College Since 1946

Historically, the Burke Fund has been supported by contributions in the traditional forms of donations and memorials. This support comes from golf clubs, their members and various organizations, companies and individuals who believe in the value of education and the mission of the Fund. This sustained assistance has enabled the Burke Fund to provide more than $3,000,000 in financial aid to over 1,100 students since 1946.

Many demonstrate a commitment to the Burke Fund’s mission through general or memorial donations, planned gifts, special fundraising events, company or foundation matching donations and Founders Society Membership.

Endowed scholarships are a thoughtful and meaningful vehicle to permanently memorialize a loved one, a special individual, an organization or a club. The Burke Fund is fortunate to be the beneficiary of a number of endowed scholarships.

Golfers by Nature Remember

Remembering is part of the spirit of the game. We remember to replace the flag, to replace divots, to repair ball marks, to rake bunkers, to call a rule on ourselves to make the game fair to all.

We remember because it makes it better for those who follow. Supporters of the Burke Fund remember those who follow in the same way. The Burke Fund is fortunate for the many who believe in the value of education and in golf’s historic tradition of charitable support.

Planned Giving — Burke Legacy Partnership

Legacies last forever. The Burke Legacy Partnership offers a variety of opportunities to make a contribution that is more considerable than the donor may have envisioned. Beyond insuring the future of the Fund, a planned gift offers a way to balance one’s financial circumstances with his or her immediate and long-term charitable interests. Planned gifts also can present many financial and tax benefits.

A thoughtful deferred gift plan through the Burke Legacy Partnership provides a lifetime acknowledgement of generosity to the Burke Fund and to the young people it is dedicated to help. Contact the Burke Fund to learn more about this opportunity to touch someone’s future.

There are several ways that donors can create a lasting legacy in support of the Burke Fund while satisfying their long-range financial and estate planning goals – charitable annuities, IRA charitable rollovers, bequests, endowed scholarships. All are opportunities to make an impact on someone’s future as well as realizing the satisfaction of making a difference.

The Burke Fund is supported by many who believe in the value of education and in golf’s historic tradition of charitable support.

Endowed Scholarships

The Burke Fund currently administers several endowed scholarships. If you are interested in endowing a scholarship, please contact the Burke Fund at (401) 272-1350 or [email protected].

The Burke Society

In 1946, its first year, the Burke Fund awarded two scholarships totaling $500. Since, more than $3,000,000 have been awarded to Burke Scholars. This notable level of financial aid would no doubt be inconceivable to the group of eight gentlemen who believed deeply in the importance of making a college education a reality and in a shared responsibility of financial support.

Although much has changed in the golf since 1946, the game remains a sport deep in traditions. One tradition that has not changed is the game’s spirit of charitable support. There is no better example than the Burke Society, which is dedicated to the vision and the determination of those eight gentlemen.

If you believe in the value of education and in golf’s tradition of support, please consider joining others who have stepped forward as a Burke Society Member in this task. Share in continuing the legacy of those who launched the Burke Fund.

Become a member today and you will become a part of the legacy of the Burke Fund founders and help to bring a college education within reach of exceptional young people.
